(865) 974-HELP referral line was developed to help distressed or distressing students reach their academic goals and to help maintain a safe community and learning environment for all students.

Academic Advising – serves to develop and enrich students’ educational plans in ways that are consistent with their aspirations, interests, strengths, and values—preparing them for a life of learning in a diverse and global society.

Big Orange Meal Share is a short-term assistance program that can allocate up to ten (10) meals in a semester to students in need. Big Orange Meal Share is also available during summer semester(s).

Center for Health Education & Wellness is dedicated to a community model that is embodied in the “VOLS HELP VOLS” commitment: We are all Volunteers. We look out for each other.

The Center for Leadership and Service works to educate and engage all students to lead and serve the global community. The programs and services described here help students at every level develop their leadership skills and serve those in need.

Center for Student Engagement creates inclusive and innovative opportunities for students to build connections and create community through meaningful involvement, personal development, and co-curricular learning to enhance their Volunteer Experience.

Commuter Student Engagement wants to ensure that you are prepared to make informed decisions regarding your off-campus housing as well as ensure your commuter experience is exceptional and you remain connected to UT.

Counseling Center is the university’s primary facility for personal counseling, psychotherapy, and mental health outreach and consultation services.

Experiential learning is an approach to education that emphasizes engaged student learning through direct experience and intense reflection to increase knowledge, acquire lifelong learning and problem-solving skills, and elucidate values.

First-Year Studies is devoted to ensuring a smooth transition and a successful experience for all students in their first year at UT. The goal of FYS is to help students transition—personally, socially, and academically—to life at UT. Effectively making these transitions in the first year is crucial to success at UT, graduation, and future achievement.

Membership in a fraternity or sorority offers students a unique opportunity to have a balanced college life with a focus on academic excellence, brotherhood/sisterhood, leadership development, service, and responsible social interaction.

Office of Information Technology – whether it’s connecting to the wireless network, accessing software (for personal and school use), learning a new skill, or more, we can help!

Office of National Scholarships & Fellowships  works with students interested in applying for nationally competitive awards, ranging from fully-funded summer programs abroad for foreign language study to STEM research internships and international post-graduate study, such as the Fulbright.

One Stop Student Services – makes your experience with enrollment, academic records, financial aid, and making payments as smooth as possible.

Pride Center As a physical symbol of UT’s commitment to diversity, Pride Center provides support, resources, and a community space for UT’s LGBTQIA and ally students, faculty, and staff, as well as anyone who seeks to learn about topics related to sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or gender expression. Pride Center achieves this by sponsoring programs and events that raise awareness, increase visibility, and provide education regarding LGBTQIA issues.

Public Safety At UT we embrace a collaborative approach to safety that involves our units working closely with academics, students, staff, and other members of our community.

Whether you bike, run, lift, climb, or swim, RecSports has you covered. We serve all Vols with quality facilities, programming, and staff.


Smokey’s Closet aims to serve the UTK community by providing professional clothing at absolutely no cost to students.

Smokey’s Pantry is a food pantry at the University of Tennessee Knoxville that primarily serves students, faculty, and staff of UTK. Distribution Day is Every Tuesday 4pm-8pm. [824 Melrose Place]

Student Disability Services partners with the campus community in creating equitable access to eligible students while promoting disability-inclusive diversity.

Student Government Association exists to provide the student body with a means to deal with the affairs of students and as a forum for the expression of student views concerning student life within the university.

Student Health Center provides non-emergent, outpatient medical care for all currently enrolled, eligible students who have paid the Health Fee portion of the Student Programs and Services Fee.

Student Media provides administrative coordination and support of publishing operations for two editorially independent student media publications at the University of Tennessee—a daily newspaper and a literary art magazine.

Student Privacy and FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) provides for confidentiality of student records.

Student Records and Personal Information

Student Success Center is committed to helping UT students take charge of their success. Our staff promotes undergraduate student excellence and persistence to graduation through tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, and student support programs.

Student Support ServicesU.S. Department of Education funded TRiO Program. SSS utilizes a Holistic Counseling Perspective Model concerned with the growth of every person’s intellectual and emotional potential. It actively engages students in the teaching/learning process and encourages personal and collective responsibility. We assist you in building a strong foundation for academic success through tutoring, academic advising, basic skills assessment, smaller academic courses, social networking, cultural enrichment, and group activities.

The Student Union supports the educational mission by providing quality services and facilities, as well as a sense of place. Serving students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests, the Student Union is committed to student development and learning, civic engagement and discourse, multiculturalism, healthy living, and sustainability.

Study Abroad (Programs Abroad) is committed to fostering global awareness and academic, personal, and professional growth by offering a broad range of study, intern, research, and service-learning opportunities outside the United States.
