About the ASC

Your future is our vision.

The Academic Success Center (formerly the Student Success Center) at UT fosters a campus culture of engaged and capable learners who are co-creators and designers of their own path to graduation and future success in a diverse and global society.

Your success is our mission.

Our mission is to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed by providing campus leadership and advocacy for student success at UT, identifying and implementing academic success programs that support progress toward graduation, and enriching the undergraduate student experience.

The Academic Success Center (ASC) staff is committed to helping UT students take charge of their success. Our staff promotes undergraduate student excellence and persistence to graduation through peer learning assistance, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, and student support programs. The center and website are a resource and guide to the university’s other excellent curricular and co-curricular resources. Our goal is to challenge students to create educational plans that position them to thrive at our university and beyond.

We are located in Perkins Hall on the first floor. You can check-in in Room 121. This location is the primary spot for students to receive assistance from ASC core programs. In addition, ASC also provides additional Vol Study locations across campus.

ASC originated in 2005 to provide students with academic support and assistance in managing the transition to UT. ASC began as a virtual website linking campus-wide resources and became an official unit with a physical space in summer 2006. Since that time, ASC has grown to include an array of academic support resources made available to all undergraduate UT students.

In 2015, The ASC received national recognition, winning third place in the NCLCA – LSCHE website excellence competition. Criteria for the award comes from the Council for the Achievement of Standards in Higher Education and from the W3C guidelines for accessibility. The Academic Success Center strives to provide academic success resources for UT students through an easy-to-utilize and engaging website and wishes to thank the staff at UT’s Office of Creative Communications for their support in achieving this goal.
